This is sort of a ripoff (no really, it was inspiration!) of Ghost in the Shell, Lain, and the "All is Full of Love" video (Björk). I almost put some H. R. Giger-ish stuff in there too but I ended up just choosing a plain white background, after about 3 weeks of slow renders and fussing with different background scenes.
It's sort of about mankind's increasing reliance on technology, and how we're for the most part actually revelling in it. Not that I'm one of those backwards anti-technology freaks, I'm pretty guilty of it myself hehe, everything is digital now.. I use a wacom tablet to draw, digital camera to take pictures, mp3 cd player to listen to music, the internet for communication, synthesizers to write music, word processor to write, etc etc.
Anyway I just thought that was kind of interesting. It's actually a sort of cliché theme but oh well, sometimes I like that stuff :b
i love this rendering ... very well done. i loved all the inspirations you had .. and i like how you didnt cop their style to a T ... you just used what they gave you ... very well done. great message as well.
Geeez. I don't understand why there aren't more comments on this one yet—I'm getting here late! This is definitely one of my most favorite deviations ever. The influences are all outstanding visual references, and the way that you drew upon them was outstanding. The render is ridiculously techie, wonderfully wicked, and downright sensual. The mood is perfectly reproduced from Bjork's video, only softer, less of an edge, more humanistic—more tangible.
On a technical level, it may not have been the most difficult thing to ever produce—but the assimilation of the influences that brought this to your imagination is flawless. The colours... gaahh, orgasmic. The white background can not be topped, the contrasts of light and dark are delicious.
It makes me thirsty for more. I want more angles. I want frames, animation. I want an entire interactive three dimensional world for me to jump into. I want to immerse myself in that universe.
